# Heads Up

> See the information you need—right when you need it.

## Overview

**Heads Up** is your real-time context panel inside Mem. As you create or open a note, Mem’s AI understands the *bigger context*—people, projects, topics—and **automatically surfaces related notes** in a right-hand sidebar.

This follows Mem’s philosophy: you don’t always know what you don’t know. Like a friendly “tap on the shoulder,” Heads Up helps you **rediscover** the right information at the right moment, so you **spend less time digging** and more time moving work forward.

**Key ideas**

* **Context-aware**: Works on **new and existing notes**; recognizes people, customers, topics, and projects.
* **Opinionated, low-friction**: No manual setup or tagging needed.
* **Serendipitous rediscovery**: Brings back things you *didn’t even remember to search for*.

## What You’ll See in the Heads Up Panel

Heads Up organizes surfaced content into clear **sections**:

### Meeting Timeline

A chronological **timeline of past meeting notes** for the person, customer, or recurring series you’re writing about.

* Automatically threads weekly 1:1s or customer accounts.
* Perfect for prep: skim last decisions, open actions, and running topics.

<Tip>
  During meetings, keep **Meeting Timeline** open to avoid rehashing old decisions.
</Tip>

### Related Topic Bundle

A **bundle** of notes Mem identifies as topically related to the one you’re editing.

* Great for **research**: past clippings, outlines, and drafts.
* Great for **planning**: assemble roadmaps, trip plans, or strategies.

### Related Collections

The collections Mem identifies as topically related to the note you’re editing.

## FAQs

### Why is it called "Heads Up"?

Because it’s about awareness without effort—like someone leaning over and whispering, *“Hey, just so you know…”* at exactly the right time.

### Does Heads Up in Mem work on both new and existing notes?

Yes. Heads Up surfaces context whether you’re creating or revisiting a note.

### Can I customize what appears in Heads Up in Mem?

Not yet. Heads Up is intentionally opinionated. Use **Find More** or **Mem Chat** when you want more control.
