Mem Tabs and Split Screen Feature

  • You can open notes, search results, and different views in their own tabs for faster multitasking.
  • Easily drag and drop tabs to keep your workspace organized.
  • Split-view mode lets you view two panes side-by-side—great for comparing or referencing notes.
  • Instantly open any note in the other pane with Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) + Click.

Ways to use Tabs & Panes in Mem:

  • Plan your week: Keep your calendar open alongside your weekly to-do list.
  • Research smarter: Take notes in one pane while referencing articles or PDFs in another.
  • Meeting prep: Jot action items as you review a meeting transcript in a separate pane.
  • Compare versions: View draft and final notes side-by-side before publishing or sharing.
  • Organize projects: Drag and reorder tabs to keep related notes together for easy access.

How it Works:

Opening Notes or Collections:

Click on a note title or Collection name—whether it’s from the left sidebar or a list. The note or Collection will open in the main panel, and a new tab will appear at the top next to Home. As you browse more notes or Collections, each one opens in its own tab at the top.

Using Split-Screen:

Hover over any tab in the main panel. You’ll see a split-screen icon appear. Click this icon to open the tab/note in a second panel, which appears on the right side of the app. Note: The split-screen icon does not appear when both panels are already open. Only two note panels can be opened in Mem, plus the Heads Up and Chat area. Notes you open will show under the panel you’re in (main or second). The second panel also has a Home tab for quick navigation to your list of Notes here.

Reordering Tabs

Drag and drop tabs to change their order at the top within each panel. You can also move tabs from one panel to the other for flexible organization.

Chat & Heads Up Section

If you have the Chat or Heads Up section open, the content relates to the last note or Collection you clicked into.

Closing Tabs

You can close one tab by clicking on the X at the end of each tab, or close all tabs under one panel at once by clicking on the X at the top right corner of the panel. Closing all tabs in the second panel will remove the second panel from view. Closing all tabs in the main panel will only keep the Home tab with the Notes view open.

Creating a New Note

If the main and second panels are both open, the new note will appear under the last clicked panel when you click on “Create Note” from the top left sidebar.
